Summer Camp 2020: Update!

For the last few weeks, the MCDS Board of Directors and I have been working on a plan and procedures for when we would be allowed to reopen. On Friday, May 22nd, Governor Wolf held a press conference announcing that summer camps and child care centers would be able to reopen for the summer.

MCDS will be opening our summer camp program as scheduled on Monday June 22, 2020. Our school remains committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for students and staff. In response to COVID-19, some of our common practices will be changed in order to try to minimize risk to our families. It is our goal to provide a fun and engaging program that is minimally disruptive to our students while still taking protective measures. Specific plans and policies will be distributed to the entire school community as soon as they have been finalized.

We are also pleased to share that we are offering Montessori-at-Home SUMMER EDITION for any families who prefer to keep their children home this summer but are looking for a program that they can implement from home. Packets will align with the summer camp themes and include a weekly at-home curriculum and daily video sessions with a staff member. A list of camp themes can be found on the summer camp forms on this website! More details about Montessori-at-Home SUMMER EDITION will also be sent out once the program is finalized.

Thank you for your continued patience as we prepare to reopen as safely as possible!
